South Carolina has officially dropped its lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase regarding its staking services. The case, which accused Coinbase of offering unregistered securities through its staking program, was dismissed on March 27, 2024, following a joint stipulation between the South Carolina Attorney General’s securities division and Coinbase. The lawsuit was originally filed in June 2023, alongside a separate federal lawsuit by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which was dismissed in February 2025.
